Police investigating two robberies in Yardley have released CCTV footage of an incident in the hope of catching the suspects.

Seven men were caught on film at the Yew tree Island just after 11pm on Tuesday July 31st.

The group can be seen working as a team as they pick out a suitable victim from the few people who are in the area.

Setting their sights on a 32 year old man, the gang follow him first as he crosses the road and then though a car park where they launch an attack.

They punch and kick their victim before running off with his mobile phone.

Officers are also investigating a second robbery in the same area a short time later in which a 25 year old man was pulled off hi bicycle and robbed.

Both victims suffered minor injuries and were extremely shaken.

Detective Constable Emma Shakespeare from Stetchford CID said "These men knew exactly what they were doing, they worked like a pack of animals, scouring the area for victims and then all joining in together to commit the crimes. The victims did not stand a chance."

"Robbery is down across Birmingham and such targeted attacks are very rare, but every victim is one too many and we are determined to bring the people responsible for these offences to justice."

"This was a horrifying attack and I would ask people to view the footage and, if they recognise anyone, to do the right thing and give us a call."
