Michael Bolton has revealed that he recently underwent emergency surgery to remove a brain tumor, and has subsequently cancelled his foreseeable tour dates.

The singer posted on Instagram that he learned of the tumor at the end of the year, requiring him to take instant action. “Just before the holidays, it was discovered that I had a brain tumor, which required immediate surgery,” he wrote. “Thanks to my incredible medical team, the surgery was a success. I am now recuperating at home and surrounded by the tremendous love and support of my family.”

Bolton, 70, was scheduled to head out on the road at the beginning of February, with international dates planned throughout the year. But he says that he needs time to recuperate from the surgery, with hopes that he’ll improve to resume live performances.
