James Deen breaks his silence to address rape claims

Porn star James Deen has given his first interview since being publicly accused of rape by nine woman, including former girlfriends, adult film workers and Teen Mom star Farrah Abraham.

Speaking to former porn actress Aurora Snow - now a writer for The Daily Beast - Deen claimed the accusations leveled against him were either untrue or being 'misrepresented' in the media.

The 29-year-old said he was 'honestly shocked' and 'completely baffled' by the sudden barrage of claims, and that he believes he has always respected a woman's right to consent both in his work and in his personal life.

Adult film actress Stoya was the first to accuse Deen of rape, when she wrote a tweet on November 28, claiming her former boyfriend 'held me down and f***ed me while I said no, stop, used my safeword. I just can't nod and smile when people bring him up anymore.'

While Deen addressed nearly every accusation directly, he had the most to say about Stoya's claims, theorizing that she may have been motivated to accuse him for financial gain or out of jealousy.

'The reason Stoya made this claim could be as simple as her finding out that my current girlfriend and I are moving in together. We have mutual friends - one of our friends notified Stoya of this information.

'It could be as calculated as Stoya trying to drive traffic to her website,' Deen said, adding that the two had a messy break-up.

As for the rest of the accusers, Deen says that they may have been motivated by money to join the backlash against him, and claims that many of the allegations can be refuted with video evidence.

He also said that he has always tried to 'respect peoples' limits and safe words' on set.

Recent claims: Stoya was the first to publicly accuse Deen of rape. Since then, eight other women have made similar allegations, including most recently, Teen mom star Farrah Abraham (pictured with Deen in 2013)

SOME OF THE ALLEGATIONS AND WHAT DEEN HAS TO SAY ABOUT THEM

Tori Lux said she gave James Deen a firm 'no' after he allegedly assaulted her during a shoot, but that he 'proceeded to straddle my chest, pinning down my arms with his knees. Then, he raised his hand high above his head, swinging it down and hitting me in the face and head with an open palm. He did this five or six times - hard - before finally getting off of me.'

'I can safely say this did not happen,' Deen says, adding that incidents like what Lux described are part of BDSM or rough sex pornography and that descriptions of the kind of sex acts performed for these videos are 'dramatic' when described in text. He says there are safewords used on these sets and that if someone communicated that they wanted him to stop what he was doing 'I honored the request with the fullest care'.

Ashley Fires says she was getting out of the shower in the communal bathroom at Kink, a porn site, when Deen approached her from behind and then raped her. She added that she didn't even know who Deen was at the time and that it appeared he felt 'entitled with my body' as a male porn performer.

In his response, Deen says he 'in no way' feels entitled to anyone's body and that the shoots are stopped 'when someone objects or states discomfort'.

Amber Rayne says during one of her first experiences working with Deen, he punched her twice in the face and then 'raped' her so brutally that she bled.

Deen says video exists where 'you can clearly see it not happening the way it is represented in the media'.

Kora Peters says she made it clear she did not want to partake in a certain sex act with Deen but that he carried out the sex act anyway during an on-camera scene.

'This did not happen the way it was retold,' Deen says, adding that there are tweets from Peters' own Twitter account that dispute her claims.

Joanna Angel, one of Deen's ex-girlfriends, described a time he held her head underwater during intercourse and said she was afraid she might drown.

Deen says 'these stories' have 'certain exaggerations and inaccuracies'.

But he admits that he has been an 'emotionally insensitive boyfriend'.

Nicki Blue told Daily Mail Online that Deen urinated on her and choked her when she was performing a certain sex act on him once.

'There is photographic evidence that was posted on her own Tumblr page showing other employees of Kink.com performing these acts on her,' Deen says.

'I know I sound like a broken record saying over and over again that things are inaccurate or untrue, but when there is photo or video evidence contradicting this stuff it is hard to not be a little defensive.'

'Multiple women have told me journalists have offered them up to five thousand dollars for stories about me. Any description of a porn scene can be made to sound sensational,' Deen said.

'I’m not blaming the victim and if anything ever happened that was over the line I want to apologize and ensure that when communicated these things DO NOT HAPPEN.'

While Deen believes that he followed these rules, he says he can see how some porn actresses, after taking a break from the industry, can grow uncomfortable with the situations they have been in.

'Until recently, I had no knowledge that any limits or boundaries were considered violated. Some of these women and I have remained friends with no mention of this until now.

'As far as why they are coming forward, I have heard many stories from many different performers who have engaged in all sorts of various acts and then after either retiring, taking a break, or slowing down in the adult industry, change their desires and perceptions about things that have happened in the past.

'I HATE the idea that something a performer experienced would ever be a thing they regretted or that they considered a violation after the fact.

'I don’t want to blame other people, especially the victim, but if people don’t communicate things when they’re happening then it is not possible to honor retroactive boundaries,' Deen said.

When asked if the porn industry blurs the lines of consent on set, Deen said he always knew right from wrong and felt like he was following correct protocol when working.

He then went into detail explaining how consent is communicated on set so there is little room for miscommunication.

I operate outside of the overly PC public world we live in. I'm not PC. But making a rape joke does not make one a rapist James Deen

'On Kink.com [one company that has severed ties with Deen in the wake of allegations] sets there are three safe words. For stop you say “red” or if you can’t speak you shake your head no and say “uh uh uh.”

'When this happens everything stops. The director checks in and then is supposed to fix any issue that is creating the need for a stop.

'It could be that things are too rough, it could be that the performer has an itch on their face, and it could be anything in between or beyond. If the performer wants to continue then the scene starts again once they say they are ready.

'If a performer is fine to continue but want things to ease up you say “mercy.” If there is rough sex stuff happening there needs to be predetermined communication tools,' Deen explained.

Deen also defended a joke he made on Twitter, which was recently rediscovered in the scandal. In 2011, the porn star tweeted: 'It's not rape if you yell surprise.'

The porn star says the tweet is an example of his dark sense of humor and a coping mechanism.

The most recent claims come from former Teen Mom star Farrah Abraham, who told Daily Mail Online exclusively on Monday that Deen raped her 'for his benefit of fame'.

At the time of his Daily Beast interview on Monday, he was not asked about the most recent claim and so far has not addressed it publicly.
